Hyderabad’s Successful Bicycle Racing League has Another Rocking Event!

Hyderabad’s bicycle racing community gathered at the Gachibowli stadium early on the morning of 19th March. It marked the third race of the 2018 season of bicycle racing, organised by Hyderabad Racing League.
Today’s racing was different from all other events, because it included races for children in three different age groups. Young kids of ages 6 to 12 came with their cute bicycles to race it out for victory, and it was an amazing sight to watch! The children were put into three different categories: 6 to 8, 8 to 10, and 10 to 12. The youngest category raced over the course of 1.5km, while the other two categories had two laps of the course, calling for 3km of racing.
Apart from the kids racing, there was a women’s race, an amateur race as well as an elite men’s race.
The women’s race went first, boasting of a line up including seven of Hyderabad’s fittest cyclists. Their race lasted 7.5km, and ended in a nerve wreckingly close finish between the eventual winner Ms. Angana, and second placed Mrs. Jayanthi.
The amateur race had the biggest line up of starters, with 15 riders taking part. Their race lasted 15km, and the lead bunch of six riders went through a massive battle for glory. The racers attacked each other at every opportunity they found, and the audience enjoyed every bit of it.
The main spectacle for the day was saved for the last. The elite racers lined up for their race which would go on over the course of thirty kilometers. The race boasted of two big names – Jetha Ram Gat and Parashuram Chenji. They recently won silver and bronze medals respectively at the National Championships in Cycling. The elite race was a huge battle between these two riders, with Jetha Ram eventually taking a close victory in a fast paced race that lasted less than an hour.
