In the twin cities the Heritage Foundation, Ananya, and Start Up Hyderabad organized lectures to address the participants to sensitize them on the need to respect our senior citizens. Street Theatre, Cycling, clay Ganesha, Hobby workshops, Street meditation are some of the activities through which these groups are trying to educate the general public and garner support to respect our elderly citizens. Senior advocate Nageswara Rao opines that the law is in favor of the senior citizens when sent to old age homes or abused they can sue their children under section 125 of the Crpc Act. And then the law will enforce the children to take care of their parents failing to do so they can even be imprisoned. It is indeed time where everyone has to introspect that old age is not a curse but a stage of life which of us have to inevitably experience and as the saying goes As You Sow so You Reap which means to say if you neglect your elders your future generation might present you the same experience during your old age. Let us take a pledge to respect our elders every day.
