Where there is love and compassion there is life. With this Cardinal principle as the driving force of MEANS (Medical Educational And Nature Services), a Non Government, Secular, Non Profitable, Non Political Voluntary Organization was Established in the year 1994 and registered under the Andhra Pradesh Public Societies Registration Act (Telangana Areas Act Under 1350 fasli), over the years MEANS made significant community reach programs impacting the lives of neglected, discarded elders terminally ill and bed-ridden and in need of social protection.
Early Foundations
MEANS (Medical, Educational and Nature Service) is born out of the indomitable will and courage of Dr. O. G. Prakash who hails from a poor marginalized family in Warangal District of Telangana State. The sudden demise of his beloved mother in their native village due to serious illness majorly due to lack of access to medical facility left a deep impact on his mind which is the major factor that made him to build a career in the medical profession to serve people who are deprived of medical attention and support of kith and kin. With his genuine concern for the downtrodden and service minded nature treating people suffering with disability and life threatening diseases earned him the reputation of a Poor People’s Doctor. With a humble beginning with a four bedded facility for the Terminally ill and destitute senior citizens founded in 1994 today MEANS expanded into 3 such homes providing free shelter, medical attention abundant loving care to as many as 150 aged and disabled people.
Vision
MEANS envisions and upholds a just society where the poor and less privileged should be entitled to all basic needs and a right for dignified healthy living without discrimination.
Mission
MEANS is committed to extending unstinted Care and support to the Aged with top priority to those suffering from strokes, paralysis, dementia, Parkinson, cerebral palsy, ortho and neuro problems . In achieving these MEANS Intends to expand its services in a professional Manner in phases to become pioneers in the field with well equipped , super specialty facilities providing round the clock nursing care for the Senior Citizens.
Aims and Objectives
MEANS mainly aims to provide care and support besides round the clock medical attention to the aged, neglected and discarded elders.
Taking care of Medical needs of the aged suffering from chronic diseases including terminal cases providing free nutrition, close and constant nursing services. The perspective long term plan of MEANS includes Social, Educational, Cultural and Economical support covering all neglected people in all Urban / Rural areas and in this process extend its.out reach programs to sensitize the society by promoting awareness to empathize with the problems of the Aged.
