Adharana stands Respect For the Senior Citizens!
The issues related to senior citizens have become a major challenge to policy makers and social service professionals owing to the treatment meted out to the aged in the last stages of their life. Manier times the senior citizens are subjected to ill treatment and lack of respect and dignity with in their own famiies. One major reason one can attribute to this social phenomena is because of urbanisation and transition from joint families to Nuclear families. In this scenario the senior citizens are left with no option but to hunch on the support by the aged Homes who are specialized in taking care of the needs of the senior citiens.
Adharana Home For the Aged is a NGO which runs a 20 bedded facility in a independent house in R.K Nagar malkajgiri. Although it is a paid home the NGO takes care of the senior citizens who are below poverty line and inmates are provided nutritious food and health care during their stay at the home. It is open for all irrespective of Religion, caste and creed. Various programmes are conducted by the NGO to keep the morale of the senior citizen always high throughout the year. The NGO has been providing shelter and also serving the purpose of a short stay home for many senior citizens. Individual volunteers who want to do some service to the senior citiznes in what ever possible way they want can get in touch with the NGO in the above address.
