T’ai Chi, a Chinese martial art form is an exercise system that is similar to any other traditional dance form, informs N Babu Rao who trains students at Young Christian Mens’ Association in Secunderabad. Conducting summer classes at Our Sacred Space right now, he invites any one interested to experience the craft. The speciality of this form, he tells us, is that the physical strength of a person who practices T’ai Chi does not deter at any age.
“The T’ai Chi circle of process has three elements. The physical exercise that we begin with generates some energy, and prepares the person for the rest of the process that follows,” says Babu Rao. This physical exercise is followed by a breathing system that triggers the internal organs and the final process concluded with meditation that brings back the body to the energy state it began in.
While this may seem similar to a lot of other physical forms (the closest resemblance can be made to yoga that follows a similar process), Babu Rao explains that this step-by-step process is much more effective than other forms of exercise. “Other exercise forms, for instance yoga, takes time to reach a certain level. But T’ai Chi has specific exercises that anyone can do,”
Irrespective of how old one is, their eating habits or lifestyle, T’ai Chi is for everyone. It is one form of activity that helps treat specific ailments. “If someone is suffering from diabetes or irregular blood pressure, it can come down to normal. Even cancer in its first stage can be cured,” he shares.
The step-by-step process has specific exercises that concentrate on specific ailments. There are short forms and long forms. A combination of shot forms become a long form that help in clearing ailments like back aches, spondylitis, and other specific pains, he further informs us.
A trained black-belt martial artist who specializes in Kung Fu and T’ai Chi, he has been practicing the craft for 31 years now.
T’ai Chi classes are being conducted on weekends between Evening 05:30p.m. to 06:30p.m. at Our Sacred Space, SP Road, Secunderabad. For further details, contact 9030613344.
