Organizes a Candle Light Rally to protest closure of Roads in Cantonment.
Green Sainikpuri a federation Of NE Colonies in Secunderabad residents held a peaceful Candle light March from the Dr.A.S.Rao Nagar Statue to the Neredmet on the February 14th evening. The rally was organized to protest against the Cantonment’s decision to close entry to the residents to pass through the cantonment zone which is causing great inconvenience to lakhs of residents in this belt more than 300 colonies in Malkajgiri and Kapra Municipal limits are affected with this decision and hence the rally was aimed at expressing the plight of all the families and sensitize the echelons of power in the Army cantonment, Central and State government who are unable to provide a permanent solution to this intriguing situation.
Green Sainikpuri is a federation which championed many causes in the past like protection of the famous Kapra lake from the hands of Land sharks who tried their best to encroach the oldest lake in the past. The federation which comprises of families belonging to educated elite in this zone assembled at the Railway Reservation counter and entire families children, Young men and women including senior citizens took part In the novel protest to bring about public opinion on this sensitive issue. Mr. C.S. Chandra shekar highlighted that “ in the past too the cantonment has closed entry to more than 15 roads citing security reasons and built sprawling golf courts causing inconvenience to the resident of all the NE colonies and this protest is to express the plight of we the residents who are becoming victims of the official ‘s unilateral decisions” he concluded. Mrs. Madhavi a core member of the Green Sainikpuri requested all the participants in the candle light rallly not to raise any slogans against anybody as it is a silent protest aimed at garnering public support as the issue is related to scores of colonies in various municipal limits in the NE colonies of secunderabad. Participants in the rally displayed placards with slogans like “ Open Minds & Open Roads” , “ The misery of the Common Man” and many more to express their anuguish on this sensitive issue. Green Sainikpuri has indeed proved the power of silent peaceful march let us hope that the Secuenderabad cantonment board, GHMC along with the state and Central government will announce their decision in favour of the residents of all those residing in these colonies.
