Abhaya A promise of safety from fear established by like minded people who consider themselves blessed and feel it is their duty to share their fortune with the less privileged . Abhaya is a Non-Profit Organization to serve the needy. The objective of Abhaya is to evolve innovative concepts to cover the larger groups of disadvantaged population.
Aims & Objectives : Abhaya works with target groups who are vulnerable in the present social scenario like Rural illiterate and semiliterate women and children who are victims of social exploitation.
Activities : Abhaya provides help to all the needy without any prejudice to caste, creed, sex and race with special focus on empowering the disadvantaged groups. Vocational training is imparted to women t empower them to become economically independent so that they can live a decent standard of life.
Abhaya provides legal aid and counseling for women who are abused and victims of domestic violence and suffering from marital discord. Children are sponsored who belong to the underprivileged sections to mainstream them through proper education. Establishing linkages with other NGO’s for providing safety to abused women is one of the core activities of of Abhaya.
Vocational Training and Income Generating programs: Abhaya till date has been successful in launching many vocational courses to empower women like Tailoring, Fashion designing, Jute and paper bag making, Beautician courses, home need products using eco-friendly materials. Abhaya periodically conducts and participates in various exhibitions to find markets for the products manufactured by the women to enhance their entrepreneurial skills. Abhaya also supports women who want to independently launch their own establishments by establishing linkages with banks and other government bodies which provide special assistance to women.
Services to Senior Citizens: Abhaya extends a helping hand to senior citizens especially destitute senior citizens who need care and support during their old age.
Self –defence and Yoga to build confidence among women: In view of the rising atrocities against women abhaya conducts special classes in yoga and self defence techniques to empower them to face any risk in their day to day life. Last but not the least Abhaya has been leading various campaigns to protect and preserve the Environment and sustaining greenery for a healthy society.
