Abhaya which means a promise to safeguard is a not for profit organization engaged in empowerment of women located in north kamala nagar near Ecil. Established in the year 2010 by five like minded women the NGO has been instrumental in changing the lives of women through innovative vocational program s with which they were able to start their own enterprises with the help of local financial institutions for which the strives to establish linkages.
Mrs. D. Usha the founder member of Abhaya shared that empowering women is our main agenda and hence we come up with regular vocational programs which are normally for a period of 45 days to impart skill training to women in emerging trends like fashion designing for which there is immense scope to excel she concluded.
Ms. K. Sesha Kumari who has undergone similar training from Abhaya shares that her life has completely changed and today she is economically independent thanks to the women empowerment initiatives of this pioneering NGO. Besides this the NGO organizes special health camps and counseling sessions to women who are subjected to domestic violence and those children who belong to under privileged families.
