The Abhaya Association for the Empowerment of Women in ECIL is Providing Support Where None Exists

NGOs play a vital role in society by filling gaps that government overlooks. The Abhaya Association is one such NGO that has been operating since 2010, and focuses on assisting women develop into leaders and self-sufficient members of society. They have successfully conducted several events in the past including relief and donation camps, health check-ups for women, entrepreneurship development programs and sale expos. Each of these events are geared towards providing support to women and empowering them by teaching them new skills.
Recently, on the occasion of Women’s Day, the association celebrated their 13th anniversary and conducted a day-long program consisting of a showcase of various small business concepts by women, a song and dance program and an awards ceremony. The program was a great success and showcased how the NGO is exceeding expectations and leaving a positive imprint upon society.
