Restoring Nature’s Balance: Kapra Lake Mission Powered by AFS India :
The AFS India Hyderabad Chapter Intellectual Program 2025 brought together young leaders, students, and volunteers to promote environmental care and community awareness. As part of this initiative, Team KLRG (Kapra Lake Revival Group) and Prijiva conducted a meaningful Kapra Lake Cleanup Drive in Hyderabad. The event focused on protecting natural water bodies and teaching participants the importance of sustainability. More than 30 volunteers, including students and local residents, joined hands to collect waste from the Kapra Lake surroundings. This activity offered hands-on learning in waste segregation, environmental responsibility, and the importance of preserving lakes. Every citizen visiting Kapra Lake must be responsible in maintaining the lake clean for our younger generations — both present and future — as it is an essential part of the lake’s restoration.
The Kapra Lake Cleanup Drive 2025 became a strong example of how community efforts can bring meaningful ecological change. Volunteers worked together to remove plastic, debris, and harmful litter, helping restore the lake’s beauty and support its natural ecosystem. The activity highlighted how simple actions, when done consistently, lead to long-term benefits for the environment. Along with cleanup, the participants took a pledge to support ongoing restoration and encourage others to keep public spaces clean. This drive inspired more citizens to take ownership of Kapra Lake, ensuring it remains a healthy, green, and vibrant space for future generations. Community participation and continuous care are key to the lake’s complete restoration and long-term sustainability.
