Little Hands, Big Devotion — Vijaya High School’s Colorful Bathukamma 2025
At Vijaya High School in AS Rao Nagar, Hyderabad, students enthusiastically celebrate Bathukamma Pooja & Cultural Fest with vibrant colors, traditions, and joy. The event spotlights school children—especially girls—who dress in traditional langa voni (half-sari) attire, symbolizing Durga Maa Kanya Pooja. They carry their beautifully decorated Bathukammas (stacked flower arrangements) and walk in circles, dancing to Bathukamma songs, clapping rhythmically as they go. The whole school yard is filled with color, flower petals, music, and laughter, bringing alive Telangana’s rich cultural heritage and devotion to Goddess Mahankali.
In the midst of the celebrations, the powerful hymn Aigiri Nandini is sung with deep devotion by both students and teachers. This devotional song honors Goddess Durga, also known as Bhavani, celebrating her divine strength, beauty, and energy. It is especially beloved during Sharannavaratri and Dussehra, when bhajans and kirtans blend voices in praise. You can listen to one rendition here: Aigiri Nandini devotional video. Together, these rituals and musical offerings inspire faith, unity, and courage among the young devotees at Vijaya High School.
