From Sidewalks to Strength Zones — GHMC’s Public Gym Initiative
From Sidewalks to Strength Zones — GHMC’s Public Gym Initiative :
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched a new initiative to promote healthy living in Hyderabad and Secunderabad by placing gym and exercise equipment on road footpaths. These simple outdoor fitness stations are free and open to all. Common people, children, and women can use the equipment during morning and evening walks. Many residents have started using the pull-up bars, step trainers, and stretching stations for short workouts. This visible activity motivates neighbors to stay active and makes fitness part of daily life. The footpath gyms reduce the need to join a paid gym and give families an easy way to improve strength, mobility, and overall health. To see this public effort in action, watch the short video.
Along with enjoying the new fitness facilities, everyone must keep the area clean. It is the public’s duty not to litter plastic or other waste on the footpath near the equipment. Please use dustbins and encourage children to throw trash only in the bins. A clean space is safer, more pleasant, and more hygienic for people exercising. When we protect shared public areas, we support community health and set a good example for others. Let us use the footpath gyms responsibly, keep the surroundings tidy, and encourage neighbors to join. This small daily habit will help make Hyderabad and Secunderabad healthier places to live and show how simple civic sense and fitness can go hand in hand. Join the movement for health and cleaner streets.
