United Way of Hyderabad (UWH) is a non-profit, volunteer-led organisation committed to supporting and mainstreaming socio-economically underprivileged communities across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Through strong partnerships and community-driven programs, UWH works to improve education, livelihoods, health, and financial stability for families who need it most. A key focus of UWH is empowering rural women, recognising them as the true backbone of village life. By creating access to skills and income opportunities, UWH helps women become confident, independent, and respected contributors to their households and communities. UWH believes that when women grow, families grow, and villages prosper. Its initiatives focus on long-term impact and sustainable development at the grassroots level, ensuring that support leads to real change in everyday lives.
Working closely with UWH, the Rural Institute of Centre for Excellence (RICE) plays a vital role in transforming rural communities. RICE empowers women and youth through FREE skill training, livelihood support, agriculture initiatives, and promotion of art and culture. One of its most impactful initiatives provides FREE sewing training along with FREE sewing machines to rural women, enabling them to learn tailoring skills and start home-based income opportunities. This program helps women earn with dignity while balancing family responsibilities. With proper training and tools, many women are becoming financially independent and more confident. This meaningful effort is supported by leaders like Thrupu Ravinder Reddy of Vandemataram Foundation and Takkelapalli Ravinder Rao, who strongly believe in grassroots empowerment. Together, UWH and RICE are truly stitching a better future for rural women by turning skills into livelihoods and hope into lasting progress.
